Everyone faces hard times at some point in their lives. And while each person has their own way of coping, there are moments when even the strongest among us need a little extra support. Reaching out for help can feel vulnerable—often accompanied by feelings of shame or embarrassment. But in a just world, asking for help would never carry such a weight. Support should be accessible, without red tape, judgment, or unnecessary barriers.

That’s where Project Mutual Aid comes in.

Rooted in the long-standing tradition of community care, mutual aid is about people coming together to exchange resources and support—voluntarily and collectively—to meet the real, immediate needs of others. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors, not out of charity, but out of solidarity.

I was deeply moved when I saw @joleneaudio organizing a mutual aid effort for members of her community. She encountered challenges along the way, and I found myself asking: How can I help? That question led me to take a leap I had been avoiding for months—launching my merch store.

Rather than wait for the “perfect” moment, I saw an opportunity to turn my creative work into something with real impact. I reached out to Jolene and shared the idea of collaborating on a project that could streamline support and reduce the hurdles so many face when seeking aid. She was instantly on board—and after weeks of designing, planning, and building, Project Mutual Aid was born.

All profits from this initiative will go directly to helping members of the AE community in need.
